How to grow a healthy groove? Many moons ago, Steve tapped out the main hook, planting a seed. Peter gave it sunlight, adding the requisite riffage. And, after digging for wisdom through a notebook of scribbled lyrics, I pruned it to form. It’s been honed with more than a few bassists and drummers over the years; this version has friends of the band (and consummate pros) Jeff and Johann, respectively. Enjoy this one—served farm-fresh, from our work-a-day hands to yours. CK

LYRICS:
Empty pot in the kitchen.
And nothing on the stove.
A matchbook in my pocket.
Listing everything I know.
Sleeping in a clean-up room.
A breath of wiser air.
The clock broke down an hour ago.
And no one seems to care.
Everyone is laughing loud.
Those dirty little jokes.
Every odd one evens out.
A matchbook fully soaked.
Sweeping up the finer things.
A breath of stupid air.
The world stopped turning hours ago.
And no one seems to care.
